I came to the birthing center at approximately 35 weeks pregnant. I had been wanting a home birth but it wasn’t working out, so we decided that Best Start was a happy medium between a home and a hospital birth. I went into labor at 38 weeks, 5 days (I think) and labored almost the entire time at home. At 10pm I called the on-call midwife (Roberta) and told her I thought I should come in. We got to the center at 11:30pm and I was already 6 cm. Roberta broke my water and 10 minutes later I was at 8cm. Shortly after I felt like pushing- 12:15 11/11/07 Rachel made her way into the world! It was a fast and furious 3rd stage- but better than long and prolonged! Dulce took great care of me and Rachel until 8am- she was tired! And then we went home!
